A "very healthy economy"??
- Look at our welfare, disabled, homeless, and prison populations here in Massachusetts.
- Look at the people on salary who are so insecure about their jobs they're working 50-60-70 hrs/wk with no overtime pay.
- Look at Raytheon and Fidelity who job-blackmailed state government into giving them taxbreaks in recent years and then laid off people anyway.
- Look at the 17% unemployment rate in high tech (our second best industry - prison construction is our first) in over age 50 category.
- Look at the growing numbers of us who have been forced into part time and client-free "self-employment."
- Look at the two thirds of us who would take a pay cut to get more free time but are too insecure to "jump ship."
- Look at the vast numbers of us working two or three jobs just to keep afloat.
- Look at the shrinking group of us who have any health insurance, virtually the only developed nation in the world which lacks it on a universal basis.
- Look at wages which are still so low that money is concentrating in the pockets of the rich at record levels, so much so they have nowhere else to put it but back in a stock market that is far above fundamentals despite facing shrinking markets all over the world (because the wealth compacting is happening all over the world).
